Neighbors Work Together in the West End

The West End Neighborhood Association has taken on the big job of keeping the West End neighborhood free of debris and unsightly piles of rubbish. Margaret Sahnow, the first president of the neighborhood association, was also one of the first leaders of the cleanup efforts. Four huge city dumpsters were placed around the neighborhood, and the neighbors rallied to fill them to the brim.

Nowadays, the cleanup efforts are not so dramatic because the neighbors' pride in their neighborhood seems to have improved.

Still, we have many volunteers from all over the city of High Point who lend a very welcome hand at landscaping around the community center, helping with planting and lawn mowing.
